Chasing Annie Powell

Honor Annie

To celebrate Annie’s work in and around Lowell, by Annie Powell has launched the 100 Posters Project. From spring 2024–October 2025 we will distributing 100 posters to local businesses, nonprofits and government agencies that now occupy buildings or have addresses on streets that Annie photographed one-hundred years ago.

Our goal is to show how Lowell neighborhoods appeared in Annie’s time in relation to Lowell today. As you click through the posters below, what streets and buildings look different? What looks the same? How is the Lowell of one-hundred years ago a place of commerce, industry, education and living? How does Annie’s work frame your view of Lowell in the 21st century?

As posters are placed in and around Lowell, we’ll place image thumbnails and links below. To keep up with the project, follow us on Instagram @byanniepowell and on Facebook.
